Welcome to Aurinkorinne!
We warmly welcome you to Aurinkorinne!
Please read these instructions as the first step before settling in. Any violation of the instructions in relation to possible damages and breakdowns is the full responsibility of the tenant.
Thank you – have a pleasant stay as our guest!

Please read these instructions
PAIKALLA/POIS switch
The switch is located on side of the front door, inside on the left at about face height. When arriving at the cottage, set the switch to the PAIKALLA position.
This setting adjusts the heating of the cottage to the living level. There is no need to change the position of the switch during the rental period.
Ventilation
The operating switch of the ventilation is located in the hallway opposite the front door, above the electrical cabinet.
Upon arrival at the cottage, the switch should be in position 1, then ventilation is kept to a minimum.
Set the switch to 2 or if there is a maximum occupancy, especially in summer time or in very humid weather, the setting can also be set to 3. When showering and going into the sauna, the switch is turned to at least position 3, or even to position 4, if necessary.
Please note that higher speeds may affect the operation of the fireplace depending on the outside temperature, humidity and air pressure.
Air heat pump (in the living room above the end wall window)
The pump in the high living area is for both heating and cooling. With the help of the pump, you can reasonably quickly improve the desired living temperature, but it is not capable of miracles, especially in colder winter weather.
When arriving in winter time (October-April) the pump should be on and set to a temperature of 18 degrees, when arriving in summer time (May-September) the pump should be turned off.
The pump remote control should be located on top of the wooden stool in front of the end window. If necessary, turn on the pump from the remote control and set the temperature request to the desired level in the range of 20-23 degrees.
Fireplace
Please do not keep a fire in the fireplace without a presence in the lounge! The firewood is placed on top of the grate against the supports upright so that there is plenty of air space around them. A suitable number of trees is three pieces, and they are added when the previous ones are almost burnt. It is allowed to light the fireplace only with natural ignition fires at the cottage, ignition discs or birch bark. All other ignition material is prohibited.
The most essential instruction is that under no circumstances should the ignition/summer damper on the side of the fireplace be kept open until the trees catch fire. The flue may otherwise become too hot, causing a fire hazard. Control the air supply using the controls at the top and bottom of the glasses and the ash hatch. Trees should not be placed close to glasses, and especially not against them. Please read more detailed instructions for using the fireplace before lighting the fire!
Ceiling fan
The ceiling fan in the ceiling of the high living area is intended to even out the temperature between the upper and lower floors, because heat tends to be carried up in the open space.
In order for the ceiling fan to work, the upstairs loft must have the lights on, the switch is located on the left side of the upstairs bedroom door, i.e. on the side of the stairs.
The fan should not be switched on immediately upon arrival, but only later when the temperature has risen to the living level, the fireplace has warmed up properly or if it is clearly warmer downstairs.
The ceiling fan remote control should be located on top of the wooden stool in front of the end wall window.
Instructions for using the ceiling fan can be found in the ‘Operating instructions’ section or by clicking on the Ceiling fan heading.
Cottage key
Please do not leave the key inside the cottage if no one is left there.
This way you will avoid accidentally locking yourself out. It is convenient to store the key when leaving the cottage in the same key hide where you found it when you arrived at the cottage. This way, it is easy to use, even if the cottage users arrive at the cottage at a different time and there is no one present.
Remember to spin the lock code out of the open position and lift the protective cover over the code hanger.
If necessary, the key nail in the hallway has another key to the cottage.
Equipment/condition
We check the condition of the cottage after each use.
However, if you notice any deficiencies in the declared equipment of the cottage or deviations in condition, please notify the landlord immediately!
Kitchen quartz countertops
The countertop surfaces of the kitchen are made of quartz stone.
Nothing hot should be placed directly on them, such as dishes taken from the oven or stove.
Similarly, direct blows with a hard sharp object can make a dent in the surface or edge of the plane. Other substances that cause permanent marks or damage include permanent markers, sponges containing metal, markers, pest repellents, paint removers, paint thinners, lye stone, bleach, solvents, chlorine-containing products, nail polish removers, strong acids and drain openers.
Dining table
The dining table in the kitchen is completely wood and porous on the surface, thus prone to stains. Therefore, washable dining trays are provided at each location to reduce the risk of leaving traces and their continuous use is therefore recommended. If something liquid or damp drips directly onto the wooden surface, the aim must be to remove it immediately by wiping with a damp cloth. Bottles and glasses should not be placed directly on the dining table or on any other wooden surface. Coasters at the cottage should be used as substrates.
Outdoor lights
The lights on the gate posts and at the front end of the cottage, as well as the landscape lights in the yard, work with a twilight switch.
If you want to turn them off, you can do so from the electrical cabinet on the back terrace by turning off their fuse switch.
The other outdoor lights are powered by a manual switch, either from the switches in the outdoor hallway or from a switch on the bathroom door.
Firewood
Firewood is regularly replenished and is intended for use both in the fireplace of the cottage and in the fireplace of the yard hut.
Trees are usually plentiful and are stored in a canopy both on the wall next to the front door and “around the corner” on the end wall. If firewood are low for any reason, please contact the landlord immediately.
Sauna
The sauna heater is controlled from the touch panel on the inside of the sauna door.
The instructions can be found in the ‘Operating instructions’ section or by clicking on the Sauna heading.
It takes no more than an hour for the heater to warm up to the sauna temperature. During the sauna, it is a good idea to open the supply air valve with wood knobs in the corner of the roof to maintain suitable air quality. The exhaust air valve on top of the heater should not be touched. It is recommended to use bench covers.
Please keep the heater on only while the sauna is in use. It is strictly forbidden to dry clothes in the sauna!
Yard hut
The hut is part of the property and its use is included in the rent.
Users of the neighbor cottage have access to the hut if there are no residents on Aurinkorinne. Therefore, if there are outsiders in the hut for some reason, you as a tenant always are “privileged”.
The key to the hut is stored in the key nail in the hallway.
The hut is powered by the electrical cabinet on the back terrace by the front door of the bathroom. The switch says “KOTA”.(Picture)
When leaving the cottage, make sure that the electricity is switched off in the hut.
The hut has electric underfloor heating, which is controlled by a switch on the back wall of the hut.(Picture) It is not recommended to use heating continuously or in severe frost, when heating is both slow and consuming.
To enhance the draft of the fireplace, the hut has an air blower, which is controlled by a switch on the right wall of the hut. The fan should be used at least whenever the hut is cold, otherwise the chimney may not pull and there is a risk of smoke remaining inside. In the beginning, you can also try to make the draft more efficient by keeping the door open. Before lighting a fire in winter, make sure that snow has not blocked the chimney.
Use of equipment in the hut at your own risk, incl. refrigerator. The landlord is also not responsible for any clothes that may get dirty in the hut.
Papers and detergents
Dishwashing tablets and cleaning products are included in the rent, as are the quantities available for kitchen and toilet paper, while washing products are not. However, if these are available at the cottage, they are freely available to the tenants.
Wireless internet (wifi)
The cottage has a wireless internet connection in the DNA network, supplied by our subsidiary Line Carrier Oy, freely available to the tenants. The electrical cabinet has a QR code that you can scan to access the internet.
SSID: Aurinkorinne
PW: JouLukuu2018 (J and L in capital letters)
Right to use beach and boat
The cottage has beach rights on the nearby Lake Ihtinkijärvi. During the summer, the boat on the shore is freely available to the tenants at their own risk. There are no life jackets on board. The boat key is stored in the key nail in the hallway. Additional information, if necessary, contact the landlord.
Below is a map showing the location of the shore and the boat. The red circle indicates the location of the cottage.
Right to fish
The cottage includes fishing rights on the nearby Lake Ihtinkijärvi. The cottage does not have fishing equipment for tenants’ use. Additional information, if necessary, contact the landlord.
Vehicles
The vehicles stored at the cottage (snowmobiles, trailer, etc.) are private property and their use is not included in the rent.
Outdoor equipment
Sledges, sliders and snowshoes can be found around the corner on the end wall. They may be used and must be returned to their correct place after use. The thermal seat cushions used on the backyard terrace can be found on the shelf in the utility room.
Fire safety
The cabin and hut are equipped with portable fire extinguishers. In the cottage, the portable fire extinguisher is located on the left side of the fireplace on the back wall and inside the hut on the doorpost. Fire extinguishers are also suitable for extinguishing grease fires. The fire blanket can be found in the cottage in the corridor opposite the stairs and in the bottom drawer of the oven. In addition, there is one additional fire blanket in the hallway closet.
There are carbon monoxide alarms upstairs and downstairs. The carbon monoxide alarm downstairs can be found on the same wall as another fire blanket and upstairs on a vertical post opposite the master bedroom.
Candles should not be burned on window sills. Outdoor fires must not be burned on terraces or other wooden surfaces.
Smoking
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the cottage. Smoking is only allowed on the back terrace of the cottage. The ashtray is located there, attached to the wall.
First aid and safety
The first aid kit is located in the cabinet on the right side of the hall on the top shelf. If necessary, the flashlight can be found in the cabinet on the right side of the hall. Spare lamps and batteries can be found in the cabinet on the right side of the hall.
Please make sure that:
- The fireplace has definitely gone out properly and its damper is closed
- no candles are left burning
- All the movables of the cottage are in the same places as when arriving at the cottage
- You’ve collected your belongings from all the farms – including groceries!

- Wash the dirty dishes or place them in the dishwasher and leave the machine on.
- Remove the used sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers from the beds and leave them next to the bed.
- Collect the towels and fabric sauna towels from the bathroom floor.
- Remove the ashes from the fireplace. The metal ash bucket is located next to the wood pile on the side of the house. The ashes are removed using the ash scoop located next to the fireplace.
- Remove the ashes from the stove’s firebox. The metal ash bucket can be found inside the stove on the right side.
- We reserve the right to charge the tenant retrospectively for any deficiencies, breakdowns and costs caused by additional cleaning that we have discovered during the inspection, especially if they have not been notified to us in advance.
Air heat pump
In winter time (October-April) leave the pump on and set the temperature to 18 degrees, in summer time (May-September) turn off the pump. Leave the pump remote control on the wooden stool in front of the end wall window. Also take care of the ceiling fan remote control in the same place.
Additional heaters
Make sure that the separate auxiliary radiators in the downstairs bedrooms are switched off and the plug is removed from the wall box.
Lights
Make sure all lights upstairs, upstairs terrace and outdoors are turned off as well. If you used the hut, please turn off the electricity according to separate instructions.
Ventilation hatches
Make sure that all ventilation hatches upstairs and in the sauna are securely closed. At the same time, you can lower all the blinds down and turn them closed. Move fabric curtains away from windows.
Interior doors
Leave all interior doors ajar or fully open to ensure air circulation when the cottage is empty.
Ventilation
Set the switch to position 1. This setting adjusts the ventilation in the cottage to a minimum.
PAIKALLA/POIS switch
Set the switch to the POIS position. This setting adjusts the heating of the cottage to the rest mode.
Entrance doors
Make sure that all exterior doors to the upstairs terrace and bathroom are locked. Also take care of the lock of the hut door and its key to its storage place. At the same time, make sure that the boat key is in the same place.
